UNILEVER & FATTAL GROUP CELEBRATE 80 YEARS OF SUCCESS

On Friday February 26, Fattal Group & Unilever celebrated 80 years of partnership. For the historical occasion, Unilever Global CEO Paul Polman visited Lebanon for the first time and took part in the different celebrations, responding positively to Fattal Group’s invitation to commemorate 80 years of sustainable growth.

The business relationship between Fattal and Unilever is a rare example of commercial partnership longevity, the reason why the occasion was marked with a rich program that started on Thursday March 25 with Chairman – General Manager Hubert Fattal and Board Member Caroline Fattal welcoming Mr. Polman at Beirut International Airport VIP lounge.

Honorary Chairman Mr. Khalil Fattal and Mr. Polman unveiled the 80 years partnership plaque on their way to the commemorative ceremony held at the Bernard Fattal Auditorium. The ceremony was marked by the speeches of Chairman – General Manager Hubert Fattal, Board Member Caroline Fattal, Unilever Customer Development Director Levant & Iraq Khalil Yassine, and of course, Mr. Polman’s speech.

The commemorative ceremony was followed by a cocktail dinner at Villa Linda Sursock.

A great start indeed for another 80 years of successful partnership!

KFF CONTRIBUTES TO THE REFORESTATION OF THE SHOUF RESERVE

As part of the Group’s belief in the importance of conserving the cultural and natural heritage of the country, Khalil Fattal & Fils contributed to the reforestation of 2 hectares in the Shouf Biosphere Reserve, the largest Lebanon natural reserve. In July 2015, UNESCO declared the Shouf Biosphere Reserve a protected area of approximately 50,000 hectares or 0.5% of the total area of Lebanon. This reserve is a major natural attraction for Lebanon and the region.

FATTAL AWARDED BY BACARDI CHAIRMAN

On February 2, 2015, Fattal executives flew to Nicosia, responding to the invitation of Mr. Facundo L. Bacardi, Chairman of Bacardi Limited. for a visit that was initially scheduled to take place in Beirut but cancelled at the last minute due to security restrictions. 

Mr. Facundo Bacardi offered Fattal a trophy  featuring the names of Bacardi and Fattal engraved on 2 silver rings representing the strong long lasting alliance between the two companies and bearing the following inscription: “Award of Appreciation presented from Facundo Bacardi to Fattal Family in appreciation for the many years of dedicated partnership”.This encounter marked an immense 80 years of collaboration between Bacardi & Fattal and a historical moment for the Group.

FATTAL EXECUTIVES MEET WITH TUPPERWARE CEO IN ISTANBUL

Fattal’s story with Tupperware, the American multinational direct sales company, started 25 years ago back in 1990. On the occasion of this quarter of a century partnership, which coincided with his tour in the region, Rick Goings, Chairman and CEO of Tupperware decided to visit Fattal in Lebanon. Unfortunately, for security reasons, the meeting had to take place in Istanbul on May 3, 2015.

During this warm encounter, an award was granted to Fattal Holding for its leadership action regarding the business development in the MENA. A great start indeed for hopefully another 25 years of successful partnership!

THE GOLDEN AGE TRIO SINGS FOR OUR LADY OF HOPE FOUNDATION

Our Lady of Hope Foundation annual fundraising concert took place on May 5 at the Emile Lahoud Convention Center in Dbayeh. The concert, animated by the highly praised Golden Age trio, was a blend of a wide variety of musical styles. The artists Sammy Clark, Abdo Mounzer and Petit Prince, who started their singing careers in the late 70s and early 80s, performed songs that marked a whole era of golden tunes and are part of the retro collections of many today. The trio managed to create a very entertaining ambiance, the audience was delighted and the atmosphere truly joyful!

Thank you the Fattal Community and all the donors! The benefits of this concert (1500 tickets were sold) will be dedicated to the cause of Education.

7 ATHLETES RAISING FUNDS FOR EDUCATION

It is the first time in the history of the Fattal Foundation that athletes choose to participate in the very tough  Ironman Triathlon for the cause of Education, a cause Our Lady of Hope Foundation has been defending since 1987. The 7 racers went beyond their limits on June 28, in Nice (France), where the race took place.

Another “Premiere” is the launch of ironMIND, a social media campaign (mainly on facebook and Instagram) to back up the athletes. Our Lady of Hope Foundation fan page on facebook has never been as active and animated as during the IronMIND facebook campaign. (http://www.facebook.com/fattalfoundation)

Congratulations to all 7 Ironman finishers. And most of all, a big thank you to them all, as the proceeds of the ironMIND campaign will go to Our Lady of Hope Foundation and help underprivileged families secure schooling fees for their children.

FATTAL RECOGNIZED BY THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF BEIRUT

A special reception was held at AUB on Friday, November 28 to launch the 1866 Society, a new philanthropic community comprising AUB’s most committed and loyal supporters - Fattal Group being one of them.

 

On this occasion, AUB’s President Peter Dorman wrote to Mrs. Caroline Fattal:

“Since its founding in 1866, AUB has benefited from the generosity of many loyal donors who have contributed to the university’s extraordinary story and achievements. Our reception is intended to recognize you for your unwavering support of AUB over many years, and to extend to you an invitation to be part of the 1866 Society where you will inspire others with your generosity.

Consistent philanthropic support enables AUB to progress confidently, ensuring funding for financial aid, educational programs, innovative research, the continued excellence of AUBMC, and campus enhancements. We hope that you will always support AUB and our important mission.”

A recognition certificate and a gold pin were presented to Fattal Group in honor of its “consistent philanthropic contributions to AUB for 15-20 years.”

FATTAL RUNS THE BEIRUT MARATHON FOR OUR LADY OF HOPE

The Fattal Foundation for Education and Teaching was present at the 2014 Edition of Beirut Marathon (Sunday November 9) and for the first time since the inception of the Beirut Marathon in 2003! This joint CSR and Ambiance Committee initiative proved to be a real success from a fundraising standpoint (more than $20,000 were raised) and a great cause to bring together the Fattal Community. 368 participants were registered part of whom from outside the Group, typically family members, friends and acquaintances but also sister companies and customers such as Assurex and Carrefour!

The D-Day started around 7 am when runners/walkers started to arrive to Beirut Waterfront at Our Lady of Hope Foundation start line tent. Coffee, tea, fruits and snacks were made available to everyone while an atmosphere of fun, happiness and solidarity prevailed along with a beautiful weather and large radiant smiles on all faces! At the end of the circuit, participants were greeted at the finish line tent, where water, food and goody bags were distributed.
